BKPP’s unique programs provide an innovative framework for youth development that integrates social, emotional, academic, and health education.
Position Overview
The Be Kind People Project is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Team Supervisor to oversee our AmeriCorps Research Team. This intern will supervise one 1200-hour AmeriCorps member and two 300-hour AmeriCorps members who are supporting BKPP’s The BE KIND School™ programming, and its opioid prevention pilot program. The team is tasked with conducting research, gathering and interpreting survey data, and supporting evaluation efforts to advance BKPP’s impact on substance use prevention and youth engagement.
The intern will serve as the primary supervisor for the research AmeriCorps members, providing guidance, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with AmeriCorps expectations and BKPP policies.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership
- Provide direct supervision to the research AmeriCorps members.
- Assign research duties, survey administration, and data analysis tasks based on program priorities.
- Serve as the first point of contact for questions, troubleshooting, and team support.
Program Oversight and Compliance
- Track member hours and progress toward term completion.
- Review and approve member timesheets weekly in OnCorps.
- Ensure member service activities align with position descriptions and AmeriCorps compliance standards.
Research and Data Management
- Assist in the design and implementation of data collection tools for The BE KIND School and the opioid prevention initiative and other BKPP programs as needed.
- Oversee collection, input, and interpretation of survey data and other research findings.
- Help prepare reports and summaries to share program impact.
Training and Development
- Provide onboarding and training support for new research members.
- Offer ongoing feedback and coaching to ensure high-quality service and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student (public health, psychology, social work, education, nonprofit management, or related field preferred).
- Strong interest in community-based research, program evaluation, and substance use prevention.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support team members with varying levels of experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) required; including use of Excel to perform basic data analysis and T-tests.
- Familiarity with HubSpot is a plus.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred but not required.
