Therapeutic Recreation Internship and Volunteer Opportunities

Internship & Volunteer Opportunities with Columbus Recreation and Parks Department – Therapeutic Recreation

We are excited to partner with students from Ohio State University and other local colleges to support our Therapeutic Recreation programs and summer camps. Our department provides year-round adaptive recreation opportunities for youth and adults with disabilities, including inclusive summer camps, adaptive sports teams, adaptive aquatics, outdoor recreation, and social programs.

We are looking for passionate students from a variety of majors to join us as interns and volunteers. These experiences offer opportunities to build real-world skills in leadership, program planning, adaptive techniques, and inclusive practices, while making a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Most internships are unpaid during the academic year, but paid opportunities may be available during summer camps or seasonal program support. Whether you’re interested in adaptive sports, therapy-based recreation, education, or human services, our programs provide hands-on learning in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Note: These internships are unpaid during the academic year, but paid opportunities may be available during summer camps or seasonal program support.
