Agricultural Business Internship

As an intern, you'll work closely with our team on exciting projects that impact the agricultural sector. This internship will provide you with valuable insights into the intersection of agriculture and business, giving you the chance to apply your academic knowledge in real-world scenarios. Starting this year we are undertaking several major projects including:
- Updating and upgrading our existing Farmers’ Market, which includes bringing in new vendors, designing a new vendor programme, creating a music venue, and a child play area.
- Updating the landscaping of our main facility to reflect our commitment to sustainability.
- Creating streamline approaches to delivery.
- A mass inventory of our physical assets
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with varying departments including marketing, production, trucking, and billing.
- Spearhead or partner on projects investigating areas of improvement, developing markets, and points of improved efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members on project timelines and deliverables to ensure efficient workflow.
- Engage with farmers and industry professionals to gather insights and feedback.
- Participate in financial analysis and budgeting processes for agricultural projects.
- Help prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and management
- When working in the farm store, provide a friendly welcoming environment by smiling, greeting, and acknowledging every customer when they enter the store and assisting them as needed.
- Answering phones: assist with questions and taking customer orders
- Perform day-to-day store operations such as counter help, keeping the store clean, inventory restocking, and watering plants.
- Operating our point of sale (POS) computer systems for sales, returns, charges, payments, etc.
- Gain product knowledge and be able to assist customers with choosing the correct products for their needs.
- Assist with soil tests.
- Assist in developing, retaining, and improving vendor relationships.
Job Qualifications
- Computer Abilities.
- High level of communications skills - the ability to speak and write clearly and precisely.
- Exceptional customer service.
- Experience in the agricultural sector.
- Mature, responsible, and hardworking.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 80 lbs
- Able to frequently communicate with the customers and coworkers.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- A team player - Hoosac Valley Farmer Exchange has an outsize industry impact, however, our team size is limited.
Job Type and Pay
- Part-time to Full-time
- $16.00-$18.00 per hour
