Bilingual Legal Assistant

We are a culturally diverse, three-attorney law firm located in Irving Park. Our firm handles a variety of complex immigration matters, including family-based visas, deportation defense, naturalization, and relief for victims of crime (U-visa/VAWA). We are a supportive and collaborative team that strives to provide culturally sensitive, high-quality professional legal representation to clients from diverse backgrounds.

 

We are looking for a bilingual receptionist/legal assistant who speaks both English and Spanish to join our team. An ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, have strong writing and customer service skills, and be interested in and/or have experience working with diverse immigrant populations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greet clients and assist with the intake process in English and Spanish
  • Screen potential clients
  • Answer the phone and take messages
  • Correspond frequently with clients via email
  • Maintain the reception area tidy and welcoming
  • Manage/process all incoming and outgoing mail
  • Order necessary office supplies
  • Assist with opening new client cases
  • Keep client records/spreadsheets up to date
  • Assist with billing duties
  • Perform various other clerical tasks, including filing, scanning, and photocopying
  • Prepare translations of documents to be used in filings
  • Assist the attorneys in preparing applications and filings
  • Support attorney, paralegals, and other team members as necessary

Technical Knowledge or Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications is required.

Education:

  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent

Languages:

  • Spanish - Professional Working Proficiency (Required)
  • Bilingual (Required)

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM 

Work Location:

Salary:

  • Range starting at $35,000; negotiable based on experience and skill set
