Editorial and Digital Media Intern
Position overview
Presbyterian Outlook is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented editorial and digital media intern to join our team. This part-time internship is ideal for college or seminary students interested in the overlapping space of religion and communications, marketing, or journalism. The intern will also gain practical experience working with a small, collaborative editorial team.
Position details
- Hours: 5 hours per week
- Compensation: $15 per hour — see details below about General Assembly stipend
- Location: Remote (with the exception of in-person participation at the 2026 General Assembly in Milwaukee)
- Timeline: Now through July 2026

Responsibilities
The intern’s projects will be based on editorial need and the intern’s skills and interests. Responsibilities may include:
- Uploading and laying out material in WordPress
- Assisting with the Outlook’s SEO project
- Designing email marketing campaigns
- Proofreading (AP style)
- Writing (writing opportunities will be tailored to the intern’s interest and skills, i.e. journalism, reviews, commentary, etc.)
- Administrative tasks, as needed
General Assembly 2026 participation
The intern will travel with the Presbyterian Outlook team to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the PC(USA) General Assembly in summer 2026 (June 27–July 2, 2026).
During this event, the intern will assist with reporting, editing, uploading, social media and supporting the team of reporters that the Outlook recruits for the event.
This portion of the internship will be more than five hours a week and will be compensated through a stipend, with all travel, room, and board covered.

- Professional experience: Project management practice and exposure to the inner workings of a small, mission-driven editorial team
- Unique church insight: A behind-the-scenes look at the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) — its governance, decision-making processes, and national conversations — giving you an insider’s understanding of both the structure and the human dynamics of the denomination
Qualifications
- Current college or seminary student preferred
- Familiarity with and experience in the PC(USA) context is highly desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
- Experience with WordPress, MailChimp, Canva, and Adobe is preferred but not required
