Healthcare Access Specialist

Community Health Alliance is looking for a Healthcare Access Specialist.  Join our talented team of Population Health Management that focus on serving the community and helping those in need by creating healthy outcomes for patients of every income.

Job Description: The Healthcare Access Specialist serves as an active member of the Community Health Alliance (CHA) Population Health team by supporting patients with access to and understanding of healthcare coverage. This role requires certification as an Enrollment Counselor with the State of Nevada. The position’s primary objective is to help Nevadans gain insurance coverage and improve access to affordable healthcare. Team members build strong community connections and maintain health plan partnerships to stay informed of current coverage opportunities and resources.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must maintain Certified Enrollment Counselor certification and Nevada Division of Insurance registration.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local benefit programs, including Medicaid, Medicare, PPO, HMO, and Managed Care Organizations (MCOs).
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and proficiency in documenting and reporting patient interactions.
  • Strong bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) in both clinical and community settings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and operation of office equipment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and CHA policies.
  • Ability to identify issues, solve problems, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively in teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exemplary internal and external customer service.
  • Strong cultural competency and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to travel between clinic sites and community events; must maintain valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English and Spanish fluently.
  • Experience in health insurance access and eligibility preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources and processes preferred.
  • Experience in customer service and EMR preferred.
  • Must have or obtain a Certified Enrollment Counselor certificate within 4-months of hire.
