Position Summary
NOTE: CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME.
The primary task of an instructor at Chattahoochee Valley Community College is to instruct students in activities designed to promote intellectual growth. Essential duties and responsibilities of an instructor include commitments to students in the classroom, the teaching discipline, students outside the classroom, to the College, and to the community.
Salary: Salary level determined by the educational attainment and years of directly applicable experience according to Salary Schedule D-1. The salary range for nine months is $46,590-$94,363. Summer employment may be available (an additional amount of $14,384-$29,194), but is not guaranteed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair, Dean of Instruction, or the President.
Commitment to Students in the Classroom:
- Designs and administers at least three evaluations for grade determination each semester.
- Demonstrates knowledge in the teaching discipline.
- Teaches assigned classes.
- Meets classes for scheduled periods of time.
- Carries out all assignments according to schedule.
- Uses written objectives as criteria for evaluation of student performance
Qualifications
- Master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in biology or a related field, with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or the equivalent graduate quarter hours in biology courses
- Successful teaching experience as the primary instructor in the discipline of biology in the secondary or post-secondary setting
- Ability to teach any biological science subject
- Ability to incorporate instructional technology innovations into the classroom curriculum. Effective oral and written communication skills; proficiency in the English language ; Competent use of the Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful teaching as the primary instructor at a post-secondary level, with an emphasis in teaching Anatomy and Physiology I and II or Microbiology
