About the Position
Geronimo Power’s EMS team is seeking a Summer 2026 Energy Management System (EMS) Engineering Intern to support EMS development, integration, and asset management system onboarding. This role will expand the student’s technical knowledge, provide hands-on experience with real-time operational platforms, and strengthen their coding and problem-solving skills. The intern will play a direct role in building EMS functionality for renewable projects, while presenting their experience and solutions to leadership staff at the end of the summer. This is a high-growth, fast-paced environment where the student will take away practical engineering and computer science experience and an in-depth understanding of renewable energy operations.
What You’ll Do
- Build, configure, and test EMS displays for system operators and other stakeholders.
- Assist with setup and configuration of Monarch SCADA and AVEVA PI systems.
- Support onboarding renewable projects into the company’s asset management platform.
- Develop and refine dashboards, reports, and automated processes to improve operational visibility.
- Write and test code/scripts for data integration, reporting, and system optimization.
- Troubleshoot system data gaps, alarms, and performance issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, IT, data science, and asset management teams to align on EMS/SCADA/API requirements.
What You’ll Need
- College student pursuing Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Interest or experience in SCADA/EMS platforms, industrial automation, or renewable energy systems.
- Familiarity with AVEVA PI, Monarch, or other historian/SCADA platforms is a plus.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, SQL, C preferred) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-team collaboration.
- Self-starter mindset; comfortable working independently or in a team.
- Highly motivated, organized, and eager to learn.
