Analytical Scientist, Materials Research

Are you a passionate and detail-oriented Analytical Scientist with a strong background in materials research? We're looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Materials Research Department at Toyota Motor North America. This is an exciting opportunity to provide crucial analytical support to in-house R&D projects, contributing directly to the development of new intellectual property and groundbreaking research.
What You'll Do:
As an Analytical Scientist, you'll be a key resource for our R&D teams, providing expertise in a range of analytical techniques to support projects in battery, catalyst, fuel cell, and other advanced materials. Your work will directly support the generation of new patents and scientific publications.
- Provide hands-on analytical support using instruments such as XRD, XPS, SEM, and TGA/DSC.
- Work collaboratively with research teams to identify the optimum analytical methods for their materials.
- Develop efficient workflows to manage and curate analytical data.
- Prepare timely reports and presentations for research teams and management.
- Contribute to the drafting of invention disclosures for patent applications and publish original research articles.
- Manage the equipment, servicing, and safety aspects of your analytical tools and lab spaces.
- Support general administrative tasks related to analytical equipment within the department.
What You'll Bring:
- B.Sc. degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with scientific research processes, laboratory work, and data organization.
- Familiarity with fundamental analytical techniques such as XRD, XPS, and SEM is a plus, but not required.
- A self-motivated and proactive approach to overcoming technical challenges.
- An understanding of scientific writing and presentation skills for conferences and publications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) for reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge in the fields of batteries, catalysis, fuel cells, or other thermal and functional materials.
