Development & Recruitment AmeriCorps VISTA

The Development & Recruitment VISTA will strengthen ACE’s organizational capacity by enhancing its outreach, communications, and recruitment infrastructure.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Development & Outreach

  • Develop a consistent outreach schedule and materials to maintain ongoing engagement with partners and the community.
  • Design and distribute a weekly newsletter for stakeholders and the public promoting open opportunities.
  • Create a plan to expand ACE’s visibility within the workforce sector.
  • Write a data-driven report summarizing the most effective outreach and recruitment approaches.

Recruitment

  • Design outreach strategies to recruit volunteers, interns, and program candidates.
  • Strengthen existing partnerships while initiating new collaborations by engaging the appropriate staff and faculty.
  • Deliver recruitment materials to local businesses and community partners across the West San Fernando Valley.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all partnerships and services in an easily accessible format.
  • Evaluate social media and print campaigns, measuring reach, engagement, and applications generated.

Communications

  • Create both digital and print materials for communication and collaborative purposes.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication materials, producing reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Research and compile resources to support effective communication and collaboration within ACE.

Recognition & Engagement

  • Develop and distribute surveys to assess staff satisfaction, engagement, and morale.
  • Design recognition programs and morale-boosting initiatives.
  • Research best practices for equitable recruitment and retention.
  • Create an annual employee engagement calendar with year-round activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to design outreach and communication materials.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with strong documentation skills.
  • Comfortable engaging with community partners, businesses, and diverse stakeholders.
  • Interest in nonprofit development, outreach, recruitment, or human resources.
  • Possess a current California Driver’s License, clean DMV record & adequate auto insurance.
  • Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check and a credit check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

  • Living Allowance: Modest stipend based on local poverty rates to cover basic expenses. $1,155.14 bi-weekly living allowance.
  • End-of-Service Award: Choice between a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award- $7,395.00 (for student loans or further education) or a cash stipend- $1,800.00 upon completion.
  • Professional Development: Gain valuable experience, skills, and leadership training.
  • Federal Non-Competitive Eligibility (NCE): Qualify for special hiring status for federal jobs.
  • Student Loan Support: Federal loans may be deferred, with interest paid by the National Trust.

Alliance for Community Empowerment (ACE) is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering disadvantaged communities in the San Fernando Valley. ACE provides education, workforce development, violence intervention & prevention, reentry navigation and mental health services for marginalized individuals and families.
