Breadwinners Academy equips youth and families from low income communities with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve financial stability and independence. Through project based learning, culturally relevant programming, and strategic partnerships, we deliver engaging financial literacy and entrepreneurship education across schools and communities in Northeast Ohio.

Role Summary

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Financial Literacy Instructor to join our team. This instructor will deliver engaging, project based lessons in schools, community programs, and other settings. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching, enjoys connecting with diverse groups, and can create an environment where financial literacy is practical, fun, and culturally relevant. This is a year-round opportunity, and our curriculum is designed to be taught to anyone, from youth to adults.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Breadwinners Academy curriculum on saving and budgeting, credit, investing, taxes, and insurance.
  • Lead interactive sessions using project based learning, games, and activities.
  • Support participants in completing financial plans and applying lessons to real-life situations.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, partners, and community members.
  • Incorporate technology tools (e.g., Kahoot, Canva, Google Workspace) into instruction.
  • Track attendance, assessments, and program outcomes for evaluation and reporting.
  • Serve as a positive role model, reinforcing Breadwinners’ values of engagement, leadership, and community impact.

Qualifications

  • BCI/FBI background check required.
  • Daytime availability required, with occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Teaching license preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with middle school, high school, college-age students, or adults.
  • Background in education, financial services, youth development, or related field.
  • Strong facilitation and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to explain financial concepts in simple, engaging, and culturally relevant ways.
  • Reliable transportation to travel across Northeast Ohio program sites.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with financial tools (budget templates, FICO simulators, brokerage basics).
  • Experience in project based or experiential learning.
  • Bilingual ability is a plus.

Compensation and Schedule

  • Part time position with flexible scheduling aligned to school calendars and community programming. Year-round opportunities available.
  • Compensation:
    • $20 per hour for training, meetings, and non instructional work.
    • Competitive per session pay for in school and community instruction (rate varies by contract). This will be discussed and confirmed prior to receiving an offer letter.

  • Participants demonstrate increased financial literacy and confidence.
  • Participants complete short term financial plans and apply lessons in real life.
  • Breadwinners Academy maintains strong partnerships with schools, families, and community organizations.
