Assistant Pastor

General Job Description

The Assistant Pastor at Berea Bible Church is one who is gifted and is called to church ministry, loves people, and has a passion for youth, worship, and member care within the local church and outreach to the local community and world. His primary responsibility is three-fold. First, he is to build a sense of community in the church through reaching out to minister to the special needs of church members. Secondly, he is to oversee the youth and worship ministry of Berea Bible Church. And finally, he is mission-minded, encouraging members of Berea Bible Church to go and make disciples in the local community and around the world. Like the Senior Pastor, he is to vigorously uphold and defend the doctrine and constitution of this church.

 


Key Responsibilities

 


Youth and Educational Ministries: Oversee children’s, youth, and college/career programs, including curriculum evaluation, mentor recruitment, and event planning (e.g., youth group meetings, mission trips).
Worship Leadership: Lead and coordinate the Worship Team, including music selection, rehearsals, and Sunday services. Manage the technology team for media and streaming needs, ensuring theologically sound and engaging worship experiences.
Member Care: Provide pastoral care through visitation, counseling (short-term or emergency), and coordination of practical support (e.g., meal trains, prayer alerts). Monitor attendance and follow up with members.
Church Operations: Assist in managing daily operations, including building usage, budget development with Elders and Deacons, and financial oversight (e.g., tithes, offerings, monthly reports).
Outreach and Discipleship: Encourage and equip members for local and global mission work, fostering a mission-minded church culture.
Additional Duties: Preach occasionally, teach small groups or Sunday School, perform weddings and funerals, and assist with special events (e.g., Lord’s Supper, dramas) as directed by the Senior Pastor or Elder board.

 


Expectations

The Assistant Pastor will collaborate with pastoral staff and leadership to implement the church’s vision, maintain confidentiality in counseling, and perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Elder board.

Salary

Negotiable based on level of education and ministry experience.
