Environmental Science Intern

Title: Environmental Science Intern

Reports To: Respective Business Unit Leader

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated student to join our team as an Environmental Science Intern to learn about and support Environmental Consulting activities. The Intern will be tasked with working with various business units and assisting with field work, project research, and report writing. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform frontloading tasks, field work, data entry and report preparation support, as needed.
  • Perform site visits and inspections to identify potential environmental concerns.
  • Review historical documents, regulatory records, and other relevant information to assess property conditions.
  • Learn to prepare detailed and comprehensive deliverable reports, including findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Learn to conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM 1527 standards.
  • Assist other Business Units, such as Corrective Action, Natural Resources, Cultural Resources, Compliance, and Building Sciences, when assigned.
  • Ensure all assessments are completed within project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to support project objectives.
  • Track accomplishments and key takeaways throughout the internship. 
  • Give a brief presentation in the final week of the internship to share feedback on your experience with managers and peers.
  • Perform other project duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 60+ hours towards a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in technical writing.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for site assessments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with environmental sampling and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Understanding of environmental policy and regulation.
  • Knowledge of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and remediation processes.

Pay Rate: $20 Hourly
