Camp Bear Creek is a Christian summer camp in Eastern Iowa serving kids from kindergarten through 12th grade. We’re looking for passionate, fun, dedicated people who want to spend a summer making a real difference — in the lives of campers and in their own.

Come work as a Media Specialist at Camp Bear Creek. We are seeking a talented individual who is ready to put their skills into practice. The Media Specialist for the summer gains a lot of experience in, well, all things media. However, you also have the chance to do a lot more than that. You'll be immersed in the summer camp environment, interacting with children and youth in a Christian setting, learning how to capture their stories and how to share the mission of the camp, the joy of the moment, and the magic of summer in something as simple as a photograph or as complex as a ten minute video.

The Media Specialist is responsible for camp photography and videography. You'll be out there with the camera, whether it's a DSLR or the GoPro, capturing that kid's giant smile as they go flying down the slip 'n slide or the moment they make it to the top of the rock wall or their splash landing at the bottom of the mud slide. The Media Specialist maintains the daily summer camp blog, which parents depend on as one of their only sources of communication with their child while they're away for six days at camp. They want to know what it feels like to be at camp even when they can't be there themselves, and the best Media Specialist will be able to help them do that. The Media Specialist updates the camp social media accounts, engaging a diverse community of all ages and experiences that spans back over a 65 year history. The Media Specialist designs a weekly summary video, compiling everything that they have captured during the week and uniquely putting it all together into an 8-10 minute video that parents and campers will not only watch over and over, but they'll want to show others because it so perfectly captures what camp was like.
