Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Secretary to the Client Payment Unit Supervisor.  Under direction, this position will perform technical secretarial and complex, specialized office support functions.  The position will gather, analyze, and interpret data from various sources and develop, maintain, and monitor tracking and reporting systems for the unit.  The position will also receive and direct visitors, answer phones, and represent the Administrator through routine oral and written contact with various entities.  This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is detail oriented and interested in playing a supporting role in the Department’s operations.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as Secretary to the Client Payment Unit Supervisor
  • Develops and/or maintains and monitors tracking and reporting systems for the unit
  • Develops and/or maintains filing systems for the Central Payment Unit and Central Office Vouchering Unit
  • Receives and directs visitors, providing specialized information
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated
    above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college OR completion of high school and two years of related office experience OR two years of independent business experience
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm
