Dean of Curriculum (MMLA)
Mid Michigan Leadership Academy is currently hiring a Dean of Curriculum.
JOB FUNCTION: The Dean of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment supports and develops teacher collective efficacy around instructional practices and using data.
DISTRICT DESCRIPTION: Mid-Michigan Leadership Academy (MMLA), a Title I school chartered by CMU, is a student-centered school, focusing on the academic success of all students through the transfer of knowledge from the traditional classroom environment to real world applications. The school is committed to preparing students for college through a solid foundation of knowledge that provides them with an edge in facing life’s challenges. MMLA has a dedicated staff and offers individual attention with a focus on every child’s success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides coaching and modeling for teachers in organizing instruction, lesson design, instructional delivery and assessment related to English language arts, English language development, social studies, science and math. Effective teaching and learning strategies for English Learners, students with disabilities and students with diverse learning needs will be a priority.
Conducts demonstration lessons, one on one observations, coaching and facilitates group observations to ensure that all teachers have been trained to an advanced level of delivery and are using the instructional materials as designed.
Provides on-site professional development to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable about core and intervention program components and understand the instructional design of how the program meets the standards.
Assists teachers in building an interactive classroom environment focused on the content and instructional strategies embedded in the program.
Serves as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement for all students including English learners, students with disabilities and students with diverse learning needs.
Assists teachers with adhering to course content, course guides and pacing guides.
Participates in collaborative grade level or department meetings, as assigned, to assist in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve student achievement.
Prepares forms, records, and reports as directed.
Attends meetings and training as directed.
Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development activities as provided by district, county, state and other consultants.
Observes and model instructors, and offers insights for the enhancement of the teaching-learning situation.
Assumes responsibility for reviewing and evaluating results of assessment programs, and other evaluative measures used by site and district.
Participates with CTE coordinators, business and industry leaders in curriculum and instruction at state, regional, and national levels.
Work in conjunction with the secondary district academic coaches (DAC)
Other related duties as assigned.

Enhance teachers' abilities to provide instruction that increases student-learning outcomes
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others to implement the components of the District Instructional Action Plan.
Motivate and lead others.
Document systems and processes.
Provide effective instructional leadership to improve student-learning outcomes.
Interpret, apply and explain District, school and program policies, procedures and regulations.
Ability to integrate technology into lesson plans and delivery.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines.
Analyze situations accurately and recommend effective courses of action.
Maintain paperwork consistently, appropriately and in a timely manner.
Maintain the confidentiality of teachers.
Exemplify collegial behavior and a commitment to teamwork.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Master’s Degree in Education, and Valid Michigan Administrative Certificate for K-12 Education.
Preferred: A minimum of 5 successful years of teaching experience. Previous K-12 administrative experience.
High level of understanding of the assigned core
Experience working with groups in curriculum development
Experience in planning and delivering professional development activities
