Position Title: BH-JI Navigator

Accountability: Reports directly to the BH-JI Program Director
Education/Training:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related a related human services experience and/or language ability. Lived experience is also encouraged.
Experience Requirements:
Must have at least three years of human services related experience of which at least two years experience has been with the adult mentally ill population including dual diagnosis with addiction; Must possess good organizational skills, effective written, verbal and computer skills. Lived experience is also encouraged.
Summary of Position:
A BH-JI Navigator, works with and manages a caseload of approximately 18-20 clients who have been enrolled in BH-JI, engaging them and assisting them to reach goals associated with improved health and mental health/substance abuse treatment.
Responsibilities:
Assists enrolled individuals to formulate reasonable and appropriate goals, focused on meeting behavioral health/substance abuse and medical needs, as well as social needs such as obtaining and stabilizing housing, income, food, and community and natural supports relevant to the clients’ needs. The goal is to assist clients with these needs in order that they can function successfully independently in the community, and reduce need for 24 hour levels of care as well as reduce correctional recidivism. Attend all office staff meetings. Navigators are responsible for maintaining weekly contact with Enrolled individuals and may be required to travel to MA Department of Corrections Facilities and/or various Sheriff's Departments as needed or necessary.

Must have a valid driver’s license in the state of residence and submit a copy of satisfactory record of driving from the state of residence of registry of motor vehicles;
Must complete MA and ADP Criminal Offense Record Information (CORI) process;
Must have computer literacy as related to the requirements of the position;
Must be flexible with hours to meet needs of Enrolled Individuals, Natural Supports, and BH-JI Program.
Bilingual skills a plus.
Physical Requirements:
The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, and ability to focus. The employee is expected to drive a personal vehicle and maintain proper vehicle insurance.
The noise level in the office / facility is usually quiet, but can be loud due to client participation and groups. The work environment is primarily within an indoor facility with occasional exposure to outdoor weather when traveling to outreach or meeting sites, or when participating in special program activities.
