Job Title: Retail Store Assistant Manager – Sporting Goods
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Retail Store Assistant Manager to lead the daily operations of our sporting goods store. This person is responsible for driving sales, delivering exceptional customer service, managing staff, and ensuring operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for sports and fitness, and a proven track record in motivating staff
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of store operations including sales, staffing, merchandising, and customer service.
Lead, motivate, and develop store associates to achieve sales goals and deliver excellent customer experiences.
Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to meet or exceed targets.
Maintain product knowledge across all sporting goods categories to effectively support customer needs.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards, including loss prevention and safety guidelines.
Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and escalations professionally.
Monitor and maintain proper stock levels, conduct regular inventory counts, and coordinate with vendors/suppliers as needed.
Analyze sales trends, customer feedback, and local market opportunities to maximize store growth.
Uphold store appearance, cleanliness, and merchandising standards.
Qualifications:
Management Experience (sporting goods or specialty retail preferred).
Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
Proven ability to meet sales goals and manage operational efficiency.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of sporting goods, fitness equipment, or athletic apparel preferred.
Proficient in POS systems, inventory management, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Lift up to 40 lbs as needed for stocking and merchandising.
