About Us
We are a progressive, music-loving, justice-seeking congregation in Boulder, Colorado. Our communications are not just announcements — they are invitations into community, glimpses of transformation, and stories that celebrate who we are becoming together.
Statement of Welcome
Mountain View United Methodist Church is a community which celebrates people's differences and accepts, affirms, and cares for all. Your race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, body shape, socioeconomic background, gender identity/expression, size, relationship status, age, and developmental and physical abilities are all perfect in God's eyes. You are welcome in this place. Regardless of your past religious experience, here you are invited to explore and to share how faith can help us make our modern world a better place for every living creature.
About the Role
We are seeking a Storytelling & Design Specialist to help us share our story with clarity, beauty, and consistency. This is a part-time role (10–15 hours/week) ideal for a student or early-career creative who loves writing, design, and teamwork.
The heart of this role is two-fold:
- Storytelling: shaping the tone and voice of the church through words and visuals, helping the church’s communications feel warm, inclusive, and inspiring.
- Design & Delivery: ensuring weekly, monthly, and quarterly communications go out on time, looking polished, and telling the story of our ministries.
What You’ll Do
- Design and send our weekly email newsletter (using Mailchimp with Canva for images).
- Create and finalize our weekly Sunday bulletin (print and digital).
- Seek stories, gather articles, and design our quarterly newsletter (in Canva).
- Post light social media content (1–2 posts per week).
- Design worship series graphics (in Canva) for each worship series, along with coordinating images for email, social, and bulletin.
- Collaborate with the pastor and staff team, bringing ideas to the table and following projects through to completion.
- Support seasonal communications during Lent and Christmas. These seasons carry extra creative and production needs, and we make accommodations at other times of the year to balance the workload.
What We’re Looking For
- A strong writer who can adapt tone for different audiences.
- Comfortable using Canva (or eager to learn).
- Able to pull information from multiple sources — staff, ministry teams, laity, and community events — and craft it into cohesive, inspiring communications.
- Creates consistency within all church communications.
- Reliable, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
- A team player who also works well independently.
- Someone who resonates with Mountain View’s inclusive and progressive values.
Why This Role Matters
At Mountain View UMC, we believe communication is ministry. Every bulletin, every email, every post is a way to embody grace, extend welcome, and remind our community of the love we share. If you’re looking for meaningful part-time work where your creativity and reliability will truly make a difference, we’d love to meet you.
