Job Description
Accountant/Examiner 2 Position Overview:
At Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), we are committed to empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their personal and professional goals. As an Accountant/Examiner 2, you will play an important role in ensuring the accurate processing and review of billings, authorizations, and payments to support our mission.
In this position, you will work under general supervision to process and make changes to authorizations, verifying service codes and vendor information, and resolving any billing issues or discrepancies. This involves collaborating closely with our Vocational Rehabilitation and Independent Living staff to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. You will also generate reports, monitor outstanding billings, and maintain accurate records, drawing on your strong accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
Your experience in accounting, along with your ability to effectively communicate and solve problems, will be important in supporting OOD's mission and ensuring the responsible management of public funds. You will work as part of a dedicated team to identify areas for improvement, mitigate risks, and ensure that our organization and our partners are meeting all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
To be successful in this role, you should have proficiency in basic accounting principles, the ability to effectively utilize office technology, and the ability to work well with a diverse group of people. You should also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as keen attention to detail. Division Overview:
The Division of Fiscal Management oversees the financial resources of the agency in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies. This includes budget planning, revenue forecasting, expenditure monitoring, and financial reporting. Fiscal staff are responsible for ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the use of public funds, as well as identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation. They may also be involved in long-term financial planning and analysis to support the agency's mission and objectives.
Pay Information
Starting salary will be step 1, subject to law or union contract requirements. New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. There are cost of living increases to these rates each year and additional longevity supplements begin after 5 years.

We are increasing our in-office presence to 5 days per week across all OOD locations as space permits. The transition timeline for each office is being determined and more information will be provided by the supervisor before the start date. Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements.

Qualifications
24 months experience in position involving review and processing of claims, collections, billings, payments or review of documents for accuracy, completeness and/or compliance with reporting guidelines, laws or rules with experience commensurate to duties to be assigned.
OR 16 semester or 24 quarter hours in accounting AND 12 months experience in accounting or other fiscal/financial activity.
OR 12 months experience as Accountant/ Examiner 1, 66111, with state government experience commensurate with duties to be assigned.
OR equivalent of education and/or experience per Minimum Class Qualifications noted above.
