The Operations Engineer is part of an accelerated program designed to develop and prepare individuals for a successful career in manufacturing leadership. The Operations Engineer will operate through various Manufacturing functions to gather the necessary skills to improve operations. This position will provide manufacturing engineering support and direction, analyze manufacturing difficulties to identify and correct root causes, and monitor capacity levels and equipment effectiveness to ensure timely delivery of products.

1. Provide manufacturing engineering support, direction, and follow up in the areas of machine availability and performance/quality, inspection sheets, work instructions, cost per unit/cost per hour, and the development of new tooling or fixtures.
2. Analyze manufacturing difficulties to determine root cause and define corrective and preventative actions in support of on‐going operational activities. Partner with the Quality, Maintenance and Operations groups as needed for support.
3. Continuously monitor and maintain appropriate capacity levels of all critical machine assets. Effectively communicate to management actions that need to be taken as a result.
4. Support the timely delivery of products within the cost and quality specifications through effective use of production activities.
5. Coordinate work group activities, schedule work, and assign machines in order to meet manufacturing schedules, increase overall equipment effectiveness, achieve takt time (required pace of product to meet demand), and reduce lead time.
6. Analyze and review operating methods procedures on a continuous basis to develop and implement improvement strategies. Maintain visual scheduling methodologies to drive collaboration in problem solving.
7. Review regular production reports and follow up with the appropriate supervision regarding any productivity, scheduling, labor, material, equipment, processing issues to ensure maximum utilization of resources and on‐time delivery.
8. Coach, mentor, and work with manufacturing teams in the delivery of current and new product introductions.
9. Work safely to prevent on‐the‐job injuries by following Company and OSHA safety rules and regulations, understanding machine safeguards, recognizing, and reporting safety hazards, wearing required PPE (personal protective equipment.
10. Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field is required. Basic knowledge of tooling design methods and machine tool programming is required. Working knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES) is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and CAD software. Must possess excellent planning, organization, leadership, presentation, decision‐making, analytical, and oral and written communication skills. Ability to create meaningful relationships with support functions (Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, APQP, Product Group, etc.) to effectively succeed as a team.

Physical Demand Requirements

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers to touch, pick or pinch objects; reach with hands and arms; push or pull; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use foot or leg controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. For all jobs no one should lift over 50lbs on their own. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
