Job Description:
Brains & Motion is currently looking for Lead Floater Instructor to join our team, providing instructional support across multiple schools in a designated area. This role is perfect for individuals with a passion for teaching kids who want to impact students’ lives positively. As a Lead Floater Instructor, you will fill in for scheduled instructors, ensuring students receive high-quality education and mentorship. When not assigned to teach, you may assist with program inventory and other operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and Lead Activities: Support teachers with curriculum as needed. Coach and offer guidance to instructors to ensure program quality. Conduct site visits to help review programs and provide feedback to instructors.
- Teach Sportsmanship & Teamwork: Instruct students in the rules and mechanics of sports and games, while fostering teamwork, collaboration, and positive play.
- Supervise & Support Students: Monitor and supervise students during activities, providing behavioral support and ensuring a safe, respectful environment in line with school and district policies.
- Maintain Equipment: Set up, take down, and manage physical education equipment, ensuring the availability and safety of materials.
- Encourage Participation: Ensure that all students feel encouraged to participate, regardless of their abilities, fostering their physical, social, and emotional development.
- Enrichment Leadership: Lead hands-on enrichment activities in line with the expanded learning curriculum during after-school hours.
- Collaborate & Participate: Work closely with school site staff and program facilitators to coordinate activities, attend meetings, and participate in training programs as required.
- Follow Safety Protocols: Adhere to district and school site policies to maintain a safe environment for students at all times.
- Provide First Aid as Necessary: Administer basic First Aid in case of accidents or injuries during school hours.
Qualifications:
- At least two years of college coursework (48 semester units), an associate’s degree or higher, or proof of certification through a local assessment that meets the requirements of the "Every Student Succeeds Act" or ability to take Para professional exam.
- 1-2 years of experience in sports, recreation, or youth programs with a passion for working with children and youth development preferred.
- Strong group management skills, with the ability to lead and engage groups of 20+ students.
- Experience working with culturally diverse student populations.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, staff, parents, and partner organizations.
- Physical ability to stand and be outdoors for extended periods, participate in physical activities, and lift/carry up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to adapt sports and activities to ensure inclusion and participation for students of all abilities.
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
- Ability to pass a background check via online/live scan.
Details:
- Required Availability: Monday - Friday, During the hours between 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Wage: $25/hour
