Fairmont Police Department is again taking applications for a written Civil Service test to be given given September 10th @ 6:30PM.

 

Application must be turned in at City Hall, complete, by 4:30PM Wednesday 9-10-25.

Certified officers exempt from Physical ability testing.

 

Some quick answers to common questions on pay/benefits:

$53,597 to start

$60,007 after 1year 

$10k payment to hired applicants who are already certified. 

Additionally, on reg and OT, officers receive:

Certified officer Pay ($500 each year of service)

Longevity pay ($155 each year of service)

Physical Fitness incentive pay $20 to $40/month

shift differential - all shifts

Bachelor Degree pay incentive

 

Additional:

pay for uniform cleaning ($650/yr)

Tuition reimbursement program

Alternative Health care pay ($3,500/yr to have other health ins)

Certified WV Officers - $10,000 additional monetary Incentive 

Call out/Court pay - minimum 4 hours overtime

Uniforms -New Officers provided complete uniform; $800/year allowance

Short Turn around Overtime (overtime if less than 10 hours rest before your next shift)

Paid meals after working 10 hours
