
Legislative Intern
The Idaho State AFL-CIO is seeking a legislative intern for the 2026 Idaho Legislative
Session. The internship will run from the start of 2026 through the end of the 2026
legislative session, which is expected to last 12-14 weeks. The incumbent will be
expected to work 10-20 hours per week in person at the offices of the Idaho State AFL-
CIO and the Idaho State Capitol between the hours of 7:30 AM to 12 PM or 1 PM to
4:30 PM. The Idaho State AFL-CIO will work to accommodate the incumbent’s
class schedule, if applicable. Business professional must be always worn in the Idaho
State Capitol.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Writing reports and policy briefs on legislation of interest to the organization.
- Taking notes on the proceedings of legislative committee hearings and floor
sessions. - Assist with the creation of lobbying materials.
- Contribute to the development of legislative strategies.
- Develop a working understanding of the legislative process, administrative rules,
and state government in general. - Begin to learn to read legislation and legal language.
- Create materials for and assist with Member on the Hill Day.
Skills must include:
- Effective listening skills.
- Efficient and accurate typing/writing.
- Ability to behave with a high level of professionalism.
- Self-starter attitude and willingness to learn about policy issues and government.
Compensation:
- Starting at $500 per month.
- Dependent on hours worked and experience.
- All expenses related to job duties covered by the employer.
