Bankruptcy Paralegal

Job Title: Bankruptcy Paralegal

Location: Bossier City, LA – On-site

Position Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bankruptcy Paralegal to join Evans Law Group. The ideal candidate will have experience handling consumer and/or business bankruptcy matters, strong knowledge of bankruptcy rules and procedures, and the ability to manage cases from intake through discharge or plan confirmation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, prepare, and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements of financial affairs, Chapter 11/13 plans, motions, and other pleadings.
     
  • Review financial documents to ensure accuracy and completeness of bankruptcy filings.
     
  • Conduct legal research and monitor case dockets, deadlines, and court hearings.
     
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for creditor meetings, hearings, and trials.
     
  • Communicate with clients, trustees, courts, and opposing counsel regarding case status and required documentation.
     
  • Maintain case management systems and organize case files.
     
  • Ensure compliance with federal bankruptcy code, local rules, and filing requirements.
     
  • Support attorneys with trial preparation, exhibits, and discovery when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Education: Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Bonus: Notary Certification
       
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of bankruptcy law experience (consumer and/or business).
     
  • Knowledge of Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy procedures.
     
  • Proficiency with bankruptcy software (e.g., Best Case, CIN compass) and electronic court filing (ECF/PACER).
     
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
     
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
