The Home Visitor is the primary service provider for Early Head Start and Head Start families enrolled in the home-based program. Home Visitors provide early, intensive, and comprehensive child development, case management, parent/child relationship support, and family support services to enhance participating children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development. The primary responsibilities will include conducting home visits to assess family needs, delivering educational activities, and providing guidance on child development, health, and nutrition while promoting positive parent/child interactions. You will collaborate with parents to set goals for their children’s growth, ensure a safe and nurturing home environment, and connect families with community resources.
Home Visitors will work with other members of the Family Service staff to plan and provide socialization activities for participating families and plan and participate in regular recruiting events to inform the public of available services and engage new participants in the enrollment process. A regular work week may include evenings or weekends, as needed.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or social, human, or family services.
- Ability to function independently.
- Willingness/ability to work as a team member.
- Good organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to document contact and observation notes using designated online systems.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle, and documented proof of current personal vehicle insurance. (Proof to be provided annually.)
- Must be insurable by PLC’s vehicle insurance company.
- A sincere commitment to the philosophy of Head Start and the objective of an Early Childhood Intervention program.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check that includes criminal (federal and state), child abuse, motor vehicle, and sex offender (national and state), and reference check.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical that includes an audiogram, lift test, and 10-panel drug screen, and be free from communicable diseases.
