Position Overview
As a Tax Intern, you will work alongside experienced CPAs and tax professionals, gaining practical exposure to federal, state, and local tax compliance and planning. This internship provides the opportunity to develop technical skills, understand the real-world application of tax laws, and contribute meaningfully to client engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns.
- Organize and analyze client-provided tax documents and financial records.
- Perform basic tax research and summarize findings for review by senior staff.
- Support the preparation of tax workpapers, schedules, and reconciliations.
- Learn and apply relevant tax regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in the e-filing process and monitor filing confirmations.
- Communicate with clients (under supervision) to request missing information or clarify details.
- Maintain confidentiality and data security in handling client information.
Qualifications
- Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Completion of at least Intermediate Accounting coursework (Taxation I preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with tax preparation software is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Coursework or exposure to federal and state income tax concepts.
- Prior office, accounting, or customer service experience.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
