Associate Engineer, Quality and Inspection
The Associate Engineer, Inspection reports to the Engineering Superintendent, Inspection, and is the technical steward for fixed equipment, piping, heat exchangers, tanks, and mechanical systems and is accountable for supporting system maintenance and improving these systems including all associated documentation. The employee will provide leadership and discipline expertise to less experienced support staff, engineering design, maintenance, and production groups.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate Engineer, Inspection reports to the Engineering Superintendent, Inspection, and is the technical steward for fixed equipment, piping, heat exchangers, tanks, and mechanical systems and is accountable for supporting system maintenance and improving these systems including all associated documentation. The employee will provide leadership and discipline expertise to less experienced support staff, engineering design, maintenance, and production groups.
This is a Non-DOT position.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Serves as the asset integrity administrator and prepare and implement pro-active inspection programs which are based on statutory requirements, industry code and Cheniere LNG’s policies and guidelines.
* Asset integrity Knowledge of engineering issues (not limited to risk based inspection, system integrity, and applicability to specifications, philosophies and standards) and mentor the support groups (Plant Inspectors and Technicians). Understand and interpret codes, standards, and regulations that are equipment related.
* Responsible for maintaining and improving where needed an effective equipment inspection history and record system in Plant Condition Management Software (PCMS).
* Develops working relationships with other department personnel within the plant in order to seek out opportunities that will add value to each job completed.
* Reinforces awareness of safety and environmental incidents through frequent job observations by talking to personnel working in the plant. Responsible for developing or collecting information in support of permit requirements as assigned.
* Applies the complete use of standard engineering knowledge, skills, and practices to perform a variety of assignments.
* Uses established technologies, theories, concepts and techniques and begins to acquire knowledge of new/cutting edge methods/technologies and inspection practices.
* May serve as a project manager for an ongoing process or short-term engineering/construction project(s).
* With general guidance, responsible for working on basic engineering assignments/projects.
* Applies independent judgement with supervision on matters of technical significance, within defined procedures to determine appropriate actions/approaches.
* With supervision makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations. Decisions are often guided by precedent, previous experience and engineering/technical guidelines and compliance requirements.
* Solves operational and technical problems within project scope and ensures peer review when needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge:
Understands LNG transportation, storage, and processing, including health, safety, maintenance, operations, governmental regulations and associated codes and standards. Has knowledge of fixed equipment inspection programs relative to principals outlined in American Petroleum Institute 510, 570, & 653 and industry best practices. Candidate should also be knowledgeable of Risk Based Inspection methodologies, application, and evergreen techniques.
Skills:
* Computer savvy including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint.
* Leadership and administrative abilities are required.
* An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
* Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries and governmental agencies.
* Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate and maintain the LNG terminal and Liquefaction production facilities.
* Possess the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with 1) management, 2) peers and 3) the various facility level workers (Plant Manager, plant supervision and plant workers) whom are all responsible for ensuring good operations.
* Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines.
* Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
* Comfortable public speaking, able to create and deliver industry-specific presentations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education, Training and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. A Master’s degree in Engineering is desirable. A Professional Engineers License is desirable.
Experience: 0+ plus years of experience required. Recent experience with LNG is preferred, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.

Ability to multi-task and function in a highly dynamic atmosphere; must exercise discretion independently. The Associate Engineer, Quality and Inspection requires supervision and guidance.
WORK CONDITIONS
* Job is performed in an industrial plant environment.
* Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
* Limited travel required, as business conditions dictate.
* Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, smell, type and write.
* Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighting up to 50 pounds.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise. There is a considerable amount of outdoor activities involved.
* Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
* Required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.
* Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
