Fairman Financial - Tax Internship

Fairman Group Family Office ("FGFO") dba Fairman Financial (www.fairmanfinancial.com), a comprehensive wealth advisory and individual tax services firm, is seeking an individual interested in a full-time tax associate internship.

Fairman Financial provides a full range of independent, objective wealth management, strategic planning, accounting and tax advisory services to high net worth individuals and families.

 

Fairman Financial is a boutique firm focused on providing high quality services to our clients.  The founding partners all trace their roots to Arthur Andersen LLP and take pride in bringing large firm skills to serve clients in a family office environment.  The size of the firm and the nature of the business expose professionals to all aspects of client engagement and business practices. 

Internship Overview:
Fairman Financials’ internship program is for students with a GPA of 3.0 or above, who have taken several business classes by the time they begin their internship and have an interest in finance and accounting.   

Our internship program is designed to provide you with a valuable learning experience that will help you prepare for a career in financial services.  Fairman Financial strongly believes in the importance of internships.  We feel our internship program is an excellent way for students to get a hands-on feel for what a career in professional services has to offer.  At Fairman Financial, we view an internship as an important learning experience for both student and employer.  

Job Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities and requirements include preparing federal, state and local income tax returns for individuals and trusts, assisting the partners with multiple areas of financial planning and performing administrative tasks involved in the everyday course of business operations such as scanning, drafting letters, packaging tax returns, circulating mail and materials, etc. 

Our internship program enables you to work closely with each and every one of our professionals (CPAs, CFP®s and Associates) at Fairman Financial in a variety of areas.  The program is designed to provide you with a valuable learning experience that will help you prepare for a career in accounting and financial services.  

 

Professional Development:
Upon your arrival at Fairman Financial, we will introduce you to each member of the firm, expose you to our business culture, methodologies and everyday operations and thoroughly train you on our tax return preparation process.  This training will provide you with a knowledge base upon which you will draw throughout the remainder of your internship.   
 

Performance Management:
Employee and intern expectations will be set at the beginning of your internship.  To help you assess the attainment of these expectations, you will receive informal feedback throughout your experience from your supervisors.  Also, to further help you identify strengths and areas for improvement, formal feedback will be provided at the end of your internship.   

Technology:
This internship will expose you to the technology that we utilize everyday in our profession.  As an intern, you will be trained on multiple tax preparation software packages, including CCH Axcess, BNA Tax, etc.  You will be provided a laptop computer to use for the duration of your internship and will be expected to have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.  

Compensation:
You will receive a competitive salary during your internship.  

What is the timing for our internship?
Fairman Financial internship applies to the Winter/Spring semester and begins in the middle of January and lasts through the middle of April, depending on your availability and the needs of the firm.  Please note that overtime and weekend work is to be expected during March and April.
