As a BankWork$® Instructor, you’ll lead an 8-week training programs which opens doors to banking careers for people who are eager to build a better future. BankWork$® is a nationwide program designed to help individuals from low-income and disadvantaged backgrounds gain the skills, confidence, and connections they need for entry-level roles in the financial industry. Backed by a unique public–private partnership with banks and community organizations, this program changes lives—and you’ll be at the heart of that impact.
The ideal candidate is an experienced workforce development or banking professional with a strong background in training, adult education, or career coaching, ideally within customer service–driven industries. They are an engaging communicator who can build trust with both disadvantaged job seekers and banking industry partners, blending professionalism, empathy, and cultural awareness to inspire and prepare participants for lasting careers. Organized, adaptable, and results-oriented, they excel at balancing classroom instruction, individualized coaching, and relationship-building to meet program goals and drive participant success.
This role is full time and will be hybrid (in person and remote work) based out of either Spokane, WA or Pierce County, WA (based on selected candidate's residence location). The stability of this position depends directly upon the individual employee and team performance, goal attainment, and available funding.

ABOUT THE JOB
The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Recruitment/Assessment/Enrollment
- Coordinate with the BankWorks$® team to market the program in low income, disadvantaged communities through partnerships with local workforce development systems, community-based organizations (CBO’s), community colleges, Veteran’s services, Department of Social and Health Services and other organizations serving like populations.
- Screen applicants for program eligibility utilizing the BankWorks$® national standard phone screen process.
- Coordinate with the BankWorks$® team to assess and interview candidates for enrollment utilizing BankWorks$® national standard testing processes to determine eligibility.
- Complete all required eligibility and intake paperwork to maintain a participant file.
Classroom Instruction
- Utilize provided BankWorks$® National curriculum materials to deliver 8-week job training classes responsive to the needs of the banking industry.
- Teach core banking operations along with customer service, internal referral, and basic sales skills to ensure graduates are aligned with current industry expectations.
- Encourage a professional classroom environment set by standard guidelines provided by BankWorks$® National.
- Stay current in banking industry changes through professional development, gaining insight through bank partner feedback and other professional development means.
- Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate.
- Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning and modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs.
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, in client file and make readily available to Program Manager/Funders upon request.
- Provide feedback to BankWorks$ national team regarding suggestions on updating and enhancing the program curriculum and all program materials
- Coordinate and facilitate formal graduation and job fair events in partnership with banking organizations to celebrate student achievement and support job placement.
Recordkeeping and Outcome Reporting
- Accurately collect, record, analyze, and report/submit all required program and program participant performance data to BankWorks$ national team
- Maintain client file documentation on each participant including accurate documentation on classroom performance.
- Coordinate with Career Navigator to produce, maintain and update regular reports indicating participant information, placement, retention and career and salary progression.
Participant Support
- Assist clients in: Resume preparation; Completion of paper and on-line job applications; Interview preparation and follow up communications with medical sites.
- Coordinate with Banking Career Navigator to assist participants in identifying strengths to overcome barriers that lead to successful completion of program and employment through one-on-one coaching during course of program.
- Conduct a structured participant follow-up effort in coordination with Banking Career Navigator to provide appropriate coaching and support to maximize job retention of placed participants.
Partnership Building
- Develop strong relationships with banking organizations, job placement agencies, organizations serving veterans/transitioning military and spouses, community organizations and faith-based organizations, social media for recruiting purposes.
- Promote candidacy of program participants for placement at medical sites.
- Build relationships with banking industry partners to develop job opportunities for students and graduates.
- Collaborate with community-based organizations (CBO’s), community colleges, and WorkSource centers to market the program.
Training Support
- Assists with providing training support for BankWorks$® National as they launch BankWorks$® in other cities across the U.S.
- May require occasional travel to other cities across U.S.

EXPERIENCE/POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience working in the Retail Banking industry.
- Two to three years of demonstrated experience required performing work related to client recruitment and enrollment, classroom instruction, career assessment and planning, support services, occupational training, workplace readiness, job placement, records maintenance and outcomes reporting.
- Strong understanding of online teaching and learning, including tools like Zoom, and LMS platforms.
- Comfort in navigating both virtual and in-person instruction, with knowledge of how to keep learners engaged in both environments.
- Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe and Outlook (training will be provided if needed).
- Must be able to work with people from a variety of backgrounds which may include disabilities, criminal history, homelessness, family violence, poverty etc.
- Must be able to work in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and cultural competency.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in business or finance, social services, social work, education, or related field desired.
- 3–5 years experience in the retail banking industry with knowledge of bank operations, customer service, and sales roles.
- Two years classroom instruction experience.
- Additional experience in program coordination, training delivery, job development, and program development strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of strength-based, client-centered case management practices.

Job: BankWork$ Instructor
Primary Location: Statewide (Spokane Country or Pierce County)
Salary: Salary range for job offer: $55,000-61,500 annually, DOE, plus benefits. Full annual salary range for lifetime of position: $55,000-81,000.
