Statistical Quantitative Analyst - US Power

Responsible for discovering insights from load research data using statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. Participate in an econometric, technical, and statistical quantitative team that gives technical expertise and support on trading and marketing opportunities. Provide timely and accurate load and power research analysis. Support other analysts in the preparation of major load research, analytics endeavors, and departmental load analysis responsibilities. Perform load research studies for use by various departments consistent with industry standards. Prepare strategic statistical analysis, reports, and actionable recommendations on load characteristics within all state service territories as input to rate cases, system planning, and compliance. Ensure accurate Load Research, analytics, and load analysis in a regulated environment. Coordinate with business units and provide expert technical, statistical, and regulatory advice in meeting business needs. Respond to requests for analyses by business units and for regulatory filings. Produce forecasting and risk assessment proposals, analyses, and summary reports to support various business unit objectives. Conduct ad hoc analysis and load research projects. Plan, design, and implement strategic load research projects. Prepare statistical analysis, reports, and actionable recommendations on load characteristics within multi-state service territories as input to rate cases, system planning, and compliance. Ensure that results of load and power studies are an accurate key input to rate class cost of service studies, pricing design, peak forecasting, load management program planning, transmission and distribution system planning, and power purchases. Act as an advocate for integrity of internal historical data, subscription data, and forecast data.

 

Requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field plus at least six (6) months of experience as a Quantitative Analyst, Business Analyst or in a related position performing quantitative analysis or quantitative research. Must have experience with the following: working with programming languages in Python and R; scraping, cleaning, and preprocessing data for data analysis; identifying and interpreting trends, patterns, and correlations in data and creating visualizations to communicate findings; analyzing time series data and forecasting models and algorithms in relation to financial modeling, including regression analysis; applying knowledge of statistical models and other advanced models for complex financial instruments; and understanding risk management principles and methodologies to assess and mitigate financial risks.

 

SALARY:                            $125,000 - $150,000/yr

 

HOURS:                              9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday through Friday).
