The City of Elk Grove is seeking a skilled project manager and passionate changemaker ready to accelerate the City’s climate action and resilience efforts. The ideal candidate is purpose-driven, strategic, creative, and thrives on collaboration. They will bring bold ideas, strong technical expertise, and a collaborative spirit to embed sustainability into all facets of City operations, from capital projects to community partnerships. The Sustainability Program Manager will work across departments, break down silos, and champion innovative solutions that make Elk Grove greener and more future-ready.

 

The Sustainability Program Manager will: 

 

• Lead citywide sustainability and climate adaptation initiatives with energy and purpose.

 

• Collaborate with regional partners like Sacramento County, SMUD, and the City of Sacramento to amplify impact.

 

• Collaborate across City departments to integrate sustainability into public infrastructure and private development projects for a more resilient built environment, including through implementation of the Climate Action Plan and streamlining under State CEQA Guidelines 15183.5. 

 

• Drive policy, secure grants, and track progress to ensure the City isn’t just meeting goals—it’s exceeding them.

 

This role offers the opportunity to transform vision into reality. Elk Grove has already laid a strong foundation: a Climate Action Plan, a cutting-edge Community Mobility Resilience Plan, LEED-certified capital projects, and a bold fleet electrification strategy. The next Sustainability Program Manager will advance this work and take it to the next level by leading with purpose, innovating with passion, and building a legacy of sustainability in the City.
