Internship Project Description:
The Microelectronics and Electromagnetic Consortium (MMEC) is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented intern to support and help lead the coordination of our Internship Program. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a national-scale workforce development effort that connects students, veterans, and transitioning military service members to cutting-edge R&D projects in microelectronics, AI hardware, and secure edge technologies.
You’ll work closely with MMEC leadership, federal and academic partners, and key organizations like SOCHE and SkillBridge to ensure internship opportunities are well-promoted, properly tracked, and strategically impactful.
On-site/Remote/Hybrid: Remote
Task 1:
Assist with managing MMEC’s Internship Coordination Tracker, including logging and updating intern applications, placements, status changes, survey tracking, and presentation submissions across SkillBridge, SOCHE, and MMEC-sponsored roles.
Task 2:
Support monthly data collection, formatting, and reporting for key internship metrics, including applicant volume, placement outcomes, referral sources, and program impact. Ensure data is clean and audit-ready for MMEC WFD leadership.
Task 3 (Education Contributions):
Help draft internship-related SOP content, outreach materials, and onboarding guidance for students, member organizations, and MMEC staff. Participate in communicating expectations around end-of-internship deliverables and survey feedback.
Task 4 (Internship Presentation):
Create and deliver an end-of-internship electronic poster presentation summarizing accomplishments, key learnings, and contributions to MMEC’s WFD mission. The presentation may be included in MMEC’s online showcase and shared with members and education partners.
Required Skills:
Strong organizational and project coordination skills
Proficiency in Smartsheet, Excel, or Google Sheets
Clear written and verbal communication
Ability to work independently and maintain attention to detail
Basic understanding of workforce development or education programs (preferred but not required)
Education Level: Four-Year Undergraduate
Junior, Senior, or Graduate-level student (or transitioning military member)
Preferred Course of Study:
Program Management, Organizational Leadership, Data Analytics, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Education, or STEM fields with interest in Microelectronics, AI hardware, or defense technologies
