Position Summary:
As a Modeling Lead, you will play a key role in strategic data modeling and predictive analytics to support our mission-driven initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally, leveraging your modeling experience to support our organizational goals. Your team’s models will provide key decision-makers, both internally within BlueForge and externally across the industrial base, the ability to apply data to support investment decision making for improving the health of the defense industrial base. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages the overall strategic approach and implementation of applying data modeling to enable data-informed decision making, risk characterization, and system behavior prediction.
- Builds and leads a team of diverse modeling expertise skillsets and organizational partners to meet the needs of a wide array of public and private stakeholders.
- Develop modeling capabilities to enable data-driven:
- Investment performance metrics reporting
- Characterizations of return on investment
- Prioritization of investments
- Investment decision-support
- Customer system (e.g., supply chains, workforce capabilities, technology adoption) status and insights
- Predictive assessments of customer systems
- Identification of opportunities and risks to customer systems
- Characterizations of broad investment portfolio impacts
- Comparisons, validation, and verification of diverse data sources and their applicability to customer systems
- Identify opportunities for and risks to the success of BFA objectives supported by system modeling by maintaining awareness of relevant external and internal business and technical capabilities.
- Guide the strategic direction and execution of comprehensive modeling capabilities that support both internal functions and customer needs.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand data and modeling needs and translate them into technical solutions, focusing on scalability and integrity.
- Implement industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance modeling capabilities.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and excellence across the modeling team.
- Influence decisions related to product development, prioritization, and resource allocation by presenting data, insights, and recommendations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Tasking authority for direct support personnel and contractors.
- Manage, develop, and train staff.
- Provides constructive feedback and timely performance evaluations to individuals and their BFA and/or Partner supervisors.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven track record of implementing data-driven decision-making frameworks.
- Proficiency in data modeling techniques (e.g., statistical modeling, machine learning, simulation modeling).
- Strong knowledge of predictive analytics tools and frameworks.
- Experience working in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and relational database management systems.
- Ability to align data modeling initiatives with organizational goals and stakeholder needs.
- Experience in developing frameworks for investment performance metrics, ROI analysis, and decision-support systems.
- Capability to identify risks, opportunities, and trends through data-driven insights.
- Demonstrated history of driving innovation within a team, exploring new technologies, tools, or processes that can improve data modeling and predictive analytics.
- Experience leading teams.
- Adaptability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
Education, Certifications, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, Economics).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data modeling, predictive analytics, or related fields, preferably in a Department of Defense or government contracting environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
Travel Expectations:
- Expected travel: up to 20%
