Foundation Director/Grant Writer

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Marketing & Foundation, the Foundation Director/Grant Writer will advance and support the fundraising initiatives, donor relations, and administrative functions of the WCC Foundation. This position is essential to the foundation’s ability to provide scholarships, enhance programs, and foster community partnerships. The Foundation Director also identifies and prepares grants for projects identified by the President’s Cabinet. This position directly supervises the Foundation Specialist.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
 

Fundraising and Donor Relations

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct fundraising campaigns to support scholarships, programs, and institutional projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, and community partners to increase giving through donations and capital campaigns.
  • Write and submit compelling grant proposals to secure external funding.
  • Manage donor records, process donations, and prepare acknowledgment letters.

Event Planning and Coordination

  • Organize and oversee foundation events, including meetings, fundraisers, recognition events, and award programs.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, and event marketing.
  • Ensure events align with the foundation's goals and the mission of the college.

Community Engagement

  • Represent the foundation at community events and serve as a liaison to local businesses and community organizations.
  • Raise awareness of the foundation’s impact on the college and community.
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage alumni and foster a supportive community network.

Administrative Support

  • Coordinate and hold quarterly meetings for the Foundation Board of Directors, including preparing agendas, reports, and minutes.
  • Monitor and support preparation of the foundation’s budget and financial reports.
  • Maintain foundation records and ensure compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Serve on institutional committees as appointed and perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications: 

Knowledge of non-profit management, grant writing practices, and principles of budget and finance.

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) in a variety of settings, with people from diverse backgrounds, educational levels, and age groups.
  • Operate a PC, mobile devices, and related software.
  • Use Microsoft Office (word processing, database, presentation, spreadsheets), donor management systems, social media, and relevant software applications.
  • Synthesize information and demonstrate analytical skills in reaching sound conclusions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, administrators, coworkers, and the public.
  • Prioritize and complete projects and tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration/management, communications, marketing, or related field.

One – Three years of experience in fundraising, event planning/coordination, and grant writing.
