Laboratory Operations Support

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to support the daily operations of our Analytical Sciences Lab. This role is vital to maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant laboratory environment. You will help ensure lab readiness through inventory control, media preparation, equipment monitoring, and documentation management. Your contributions will directly support cross-functional workflows and uphold the integrity of our controlled lab spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage laboratory supplies and reagent inventory, including media preparation.
  • Safely handle and transport compressed gases and cryogenic liquids.
  • Clean and monitor controlled temperature units, fume hoods, and biological safety cabinets (BSCs).
  • Utilize electronic systems to track and document routine maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
  • Initiate and coordinate workflows across multiple teams and departments using digital platforms.
  • Oversee paper lab notebook and logbook requests, updates, and reconciliation.
  • Assist with scheduling and executing recurring equipment maintenance and calibrations.
  • Participate in weekend and overtime schedules as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper labeling of lab spaces by established procedures.
  • Complete all required safety and procedural training and retraining.
  • Perform all listed tasks in laboratory areas that handle potent chemical compounds.

Qualifications 

  • Associate degree (AS) in Life Sciences or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in computer applications with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and ability to meet physical demands, including:
    • Routinely lifting objects weighing 25 lbs. or more
    • Standing and walking for extended periods
    • Pushing/pulling carts and equipment
    • Bending and reaching for supplies
  • Familiarity with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Comfortable navigating and operating within multiple electronic systems.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Quick to learn new processes, capable of multitasking, and committed to maintaining accurate records and following established procedures.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

What to Expect in the Hiring Process:

  • 45-60 Minute Virtual Interview with Manager and/or Group Leader

The position is full-time, Sunday-Thursday, with the hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, with overtime as needed.  Candidates living within a commutable distance of Rensselaer, New York, are encouraged to apply.
