Human Resources Intern

Job Summary:

The HR Intern will support the Huan Resources Department with a primary focus on compliance audits to ensure Boone Supported Living meets all state, federal, and accreditation requirements. This role is ideal for students seeking hands-on experience in HR compliance, auding, and policy enforcement within a healthcare setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal compliance audits of employee files, training, records, and credentialing documentation.
  • Verify compliance with state and federal labor laws, Department of Mental Health (DMH) regulations, and Boone Supported Living policies.
  • Maintain accurate audit logs, prepare reports, and track discrepancies.
  • Assist in updating compliance tracking systems for certifications, licenses, and mandator training.
  • Prepare materials for external audits and accreditation reviews.
  • Assist with preparing materials for new hire training

Education & Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in Human Resources, Business Administration, Compliance, or related program.

Skills Required:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred: 

  • Enrolled as a Sophomore or higher
  • Knowledge of HR compliance regulations and auditing processes.
  • Interest in healthcare or supported living environments.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • File Audit Accuracy: 98% or higher accuracy in reviewed documentation.
  • Timeliness: Completion of assigned audits within scheduled deadlines.
  • Compliance Tracking: Maintain 100% updated logs for training and credentials.
  • External Audit Readiness: Zero major compliance findings during DMH reviews.
  • Reporting: Weekly compliance summaries submitted on time with accurate data.
