1st Advantage Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a full-time Learning and Development Specialist II to support our Training Department. Scheduled hours will be 40 hours per week between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Learning and Development Specialist II is a mid-level role responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating a variety of training programs to support colleague development and operational excellence across the credit union. This position takes ownership of training initiatives from start to finish, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and plays a key role in enhancing the learning culture.

Learning and Development Specialist II Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and facilitate comprehensive training programs, including in-person workshops, virtual sessions, and eLearning content. Develop engaging and interactive learning materials using tools such as Snag It, Adobe Captivate, or similar authoring software.
Lead the onboarding process for new hires across various departments, ensuring alignment with organizational values and service standards. Serve as the lead facilitator for complex or specialized training topics, such as compliance, or leadership development.
Manage and maintain training plans, calendars, and documentation across departments. Ensure compliance with regulatory training requirements in partnership with Compliance and HR teams. Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in learning and development.
Conduct needs assessments in collaboration with department leaders to identify skill gaps and recommend learning solutions. Evaluate training effectiveness through surveys, assessments, and performance metrics; use data to continuously improve content and delivery. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective, professional communication and coordination with Credit Union colleagues, team members, vendors and all levels of Management.

Mentor or coach other trainers or subject matter experts (SMEs) in facilitation techniques and content development.
Performance Measurement:
- Track the completion rate and participant engagement in training programs through surveys, feedback, and interactive elements such as quizzes and discussions. Measure knowledge retention and application via assessments, post-training reviews, and evaluate the quality of learning materials based on peer reviews and participant feedback. Additionally, gather post-training satisfaction data to assess relevance and effectiveness. Assists in the content development of training programs based on specific training initiatives and needs.
- Measure the completion rate of the onboarding process and track the time it takes for new hires to become fully productive. Analyze retention rates within 6-12 months and gather feedback through surveys and interviews to assess new hire satisfaction and preparedness.
- Monitor the alignment of training schedules with business needs, regulatory deadlines, and departmental calendars. Track mandatory training completion through LMS reports and regularly audit training records for accuracy. Collect feedback to ensure training aligns with compliance and organizational goals.
- Track the completion and quality of needs assessments to ensure timely, actionable insights. Measure training effectiveness and skill gap closure through pre- and post-assessments, job performance metrics, and error rate changes. Use evaluation data to drive continuous improvement in training content and delivery.
- Evaluate and improve training effectiveness by utilizing new approaches and techniques, making support readily available and selecting or developing training aids that assist in improving service and performance as a trusted advisor.
- Feedback from mentees to assess coaching effectiveness, track improvements in their skills through performance reviews, and monitor the number of mentees coached and the communication shared with management to ensure adequate support and engagement.
- Ensures that Helpdesk requests, questions, and concerns are professionally and efficiently resolved and communicated.
- Help measure how effective my communication is by gathering feedback on clarity and responsiveness. Assess how successful I am in coordinating training logistics by tracking timeliness. Gather feedback from trainees like me to ensure our training aligns with our objectives and organizational goals. Keep my manager well informed about our training activities and any important concerns.
Qualifications:
Experience Two years to four years of experience in training and development, preferably in a financial services or credit union environment. Experience with eLearning tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS) is required.
Education Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or related field Preferred.

Role also requires the ability to motivate or influence others as a material part of the role, with a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the role and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.

Physical Requirements
TALKING: Effective verbal communication to convey and acknowledge receiving detailed or important instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly. Frequent clear verbal communication is required, including facilitating training sessions, meetings, and collaboration with colleagues, vendors, and management.
AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information to communicate effectively.
FINGER DEXTERITY: Using primarily just fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together to use office equipment such as phones, computers, scanners, and other office machinery.
REPETITIVE MOTION: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
VISUAL ABILITIES: Must have good visual and auditory abilities to review training materials, monitor participation, and observe colleagues during training.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Occasional sitting while assisting with developing and updating training materials or during individual or small group training sessions. May need to lift and carry training materials, presentation equipment, or supplies (e.g., laptops, projectors, training, aids, supplies) up to 35 pounds.
REACHING AND STRETCHING: Reaching and stretching, below the shoulders, to access files, checks, documents, or office equipment on and across shelves, counters, and desks.
STANDING AND WALKING: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during orientation and training sessions (60% of the role involves delivering training, often in a classroom or group setting).
TRAVEL: Occasional travel to different locations (branches or training sites) may be required for in-person training delivery, requiring the ability to move between sites.
