Part-Time Accounting Intern

Michael Best is looking for a dynamic self-starter who is interested in accounting and finance, to join our Waukesha Office for a part time fall/winter 2025 Internship, with the possibility of continuing during the spring. This intern will work closely with our Finance & Accounting team on a variety of critical projects and assignments.

We’re seeking high caliber, talented individuals who are well-positioned to work in a professional services organization. 

Ideal candidates will have:

  • An eagerness to learn how accounting functions within a professional services firm
  • A demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities
  • A passion for completing and producing accurate work
  • A proven track record of collaborating as part of a diverse team
  • Focused coursework in finance, accounting, math, or related subjects

 

Job Requirements:

  • Open to students (rising juniors or seniors) as well as individuals with relevant experience or coursework
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent judgment and strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate proficiency with Excel
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, perform and remain calm while under pressure in a stressful and fast paced environment; as demonstrated through various accomplishments and activities (e.g.: leadership positions, extracurricular activities, team sports, maintaining a job while in school, etc.)
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Above-average software skills
  • Ability to work 20-24 hours per week
  • Valid authorization to work in the US

What You'll Be Doing

  • Monitor certain internal and external facing accounting team mailboxes
  • Enter financial transactions into internal databases
  • Research unclaimed property and returned checks
  • Perform vendor statement reconciliations and correspond with vendors domestically and internationally to facilitate payment
  • Send Clients Payment links via credit card processing software
  • Upload invoices into expense management software and route invoices to ensure appropriate approval obtained before payment is processed
  • Work collaboratively with the billing, payroll, and collections teams to meet internal and external client needs
  • Additional duties and special projects as needed
