Fellowship Program

POSITION: NewDEAL’s fellowship program supports our center-left network of rising state and local elected leaders across the country who are united by their commitment to expanding economic opportunity and making government work better.

Responsibilities can include researching public policies, drafting communications content –  including social media posts and press releases – assisting in general database maintenance and administration, and coordinating events. Fellows must have strong written and oral communications skills and be comfortable working independently. This is a great opportunity to dive into the fast-paced, exciting environment of a growing political organization, while being involved with a diverse range of projects and supporting rising leaders from across the country.

Full time fellows will receive a $1000 monthly stipend, and part-time fellows’ stipend will be prorated from that amount, based on number of hours committed per week. The fellowship is hybrid and based in our Washington, D.C. office.

Fellow positions are available for each part of the academic calendar: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. The start and end dates of the program are flexible.

ABOUT NEWDEAL: NewDEAL is a selective center-left network of state and local elected leaders from across the nation. One in four NewDEAL Leaders have risen to higher office, with notable alumni including former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Governor Josh Shapiro, and U.S. Representative Sarah McBride. Our goal is to build the bench for the future of the Democratic Party.

Our sister-organization, the NewDEAL Forum, focuses on specific issues, publishing policy recommendations and highlighting case studies on key issues, such as artificial intelligence, climate change, democracy, education and workforce, and housing affordability.
