Pilot Plant Intern
Now Brewing: Pilot Plant Intern at Allen Flavors, Inc.
AKA: Junior Beverage Scientist in the Making
Are you a student who loves science, snacks, and saying “wow” in the lab? Want to roll up your sleeves and get real-world, hands-on experience in a pilot-scale beverage lab (and maybe wear a cool lab coat while doing it)? Then keep reading—because Allen Flavors, Inc. is looking for a Pilot Plant Intern to join our flavor-forward team.
This is your chance to get up close and personal with the tools, tech, and teams behind the drinks you know and love. If you’re curious, collaborative, and not afraid to get a little fizzy, we want to hear from you!
What You’ll Be Doing (Besides Impressing Your Professors Later):
- Pilot Plant Sidekick: Assist with operating large-scale equipment—no capes required, but supervision provided.
- Mini Spray Dryer Mastery: Learn to operate a lab-scale spray dryer to support our Sample Lab and Flavor Lab superheroes.
- Carbonation Station: Help carbonate and can beverages like a total pro. Yes, it’s as fun as it sounds.
- Sample Supporter: Process finished products and assist in sample prep with precision (and a splash of flair).
- Maintenance Shadow: Tag along with the pros and learn how we keep our machines running like a well-oiled blender.
- Lab Communicator: Collaborate with Product Development, Flavor Lab, and Sample Lab teams—aka, your future mentors.
- Documentation Doer: Keep things organized and accurate—we’re big fans of clean data.
- Quality Detective: Learn how tweaks in equipment settings can change product yield and quality (science magic!).
- Safety Star: Follow all food safety protocols like HACCP, SQF, NSF, and others—because safe sips are happy sips.
- Education: Currently working toward a Bachelor’s in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related science field.
- Experience: At least one semester of lab experience (from coursework, past internships, or a cool science club counts!).
-
Skills That’ll Make You Shine:
- Microsoft Word and Excel wizardry (we’ll settle for strong basics and no fear of spreadsheets).
- Detail-oriented and organized—you don’t just wing it.
- Able to follow directions and ask good questions.
- Comfortable working independently and with a team.
- Strong communicator with a can-do attitude.
- Mechanical curiosity and a willingness to troubleshoot.
- Respectful of safety and cleanliness—because we don’t mess with messes.
