Location: Allen Flavors, Inc. — Where Taste Buds Go to Party

Ever wonder who makes cherry taste “cherry-er” or why your sports drink somehow tastes like blue? At Allen Flavors, Inc., we don’t just ask those questions—we answer them. We’re in the flavor formulation and ingredient supply business, and we’re searching for a Sample Lab Intern to join our team of flavor wizards.

This is not your average internship. This is your golden ticket into the world of flavors.

 What You’ll Be Doing (a.k.a. Your Flavor-Fueled Mission)

  • Precision Weighing: Flex those fine motor skills! Your job is to weigh things—accurately. Scales don’t lie, and neither should you.
  • Safety First: You’ll be handling flavor chemicals, so you’ll need your PPE. Sadly, the cape is optional, but safety goggles are non-negotiable.
  • Equipment TLC: Help keep our lab equipment more calibrated than a barista’s espresso machine.
  • Flavor Magic: Assist the Sample Lab squad with benchtop flavor creation. Yes, you get to taste things (just maybe not everything at once).
  • Recipe Following: Stick to our procedures like their grandma’s secret cookie recipe. Precision = delicious.
  • Data Whispering: Record data like it’s going in a food science time capsule—accurate, neat, and with purpose.
  • Taste Testing & Descriptor Tests: Use your powers of flavor detection for good. Think: Super Taster™ in training.
  • Raw Material Sniffing: Help assess the materials we use to build our flavor profiles. If you can tell the difference between two types of vanilla, you’re our kind of intern.
  • Documentation Station: Banana ≠ Pickle. Good notes prevent bad surprises.
  • Problem Solver: If something smells fishy (literally or figuratively), tell your supervisor—stat.
  • Inventory Watchdog: Make sure we never run out of key ingredients. Running out of chocolate flavor is our worst nightmare.
  • Follow the Rules: Know and uphold GMP, HACCP, NSF, SQF, and Food Defense protocols like a flavor-safety superhero.
  • Miscellaneous Fun: Be flexible, adaptable, and ready for whatever flavor-related curveballs the day throws at you.

Who You Are (a.k.a. Our Ideal Intern)

  • Currently earning your degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field (bonus points if you already find the smell of the lab comforting).
  • Have at least one semester of lab experience—academic lab work counts!
  • Attention to detail so sharp, you notice when someone switches from Times New Roman to Calibri.
  • A team player who communicates well and knows when to ask, “Does this smell right to you?”
  • Comfortable with MS Office—especially Excel (you and spreadsheets will get very close).
  • Not afraid to get your hands (safely) dirty in the name of flavor science.
