STOWE Ocean Resource Management Fall Internship
The Natural Resource Management (NRM) Program is hiring students for the STOWE Internship Program, Fall Semester Cohort.
The STOWE (Safeguarding Traditional Ocean Wisdom and Education) Program is designed to build local natural resource management capacity in two main ways:
- Expanding NMC NRM course offerings that integrate Indigenous Traditional and Cultural Ecological Knowledge with Western science
- Provide paid interdisciplinary internship opportunities in the fields of ocean conservation, environmental humanities, and marine resource management
As a STOWE Intern, your responsibilities may include:
- Developing communication materials and assisting with educational programs or outreach events
- Designing and conducting independent research, analyzing and interpreting data, conducting literature reviews, and writing reports
- Assisting with various field-based tasks related to wildlife or habitat management, including maintenance and upkeep of equipment
- Providing general support and assisting program partners, including 500 Sails, US Fish & Wildlife Service, and other organizations in both the private and public sectors
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled student at NMC in good academic standing.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to follow instructions and work independently when required
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Comfortable with speaking in front of groups of various sizes
This is a paid internship program designed for students interested in gaining interdisciplinary experience in the areas of marine conservation, Indigenous Traditional and Cultural Ecological Knowledge (ITECK), and community-led resource management.
