Description
Hannah News South Carolina is offering a unique internship opportunity in the legislative arena. Most legislative internships require full-time semester-long commitments. Hannah News South Carolina will consider those who can work as few as 10 hours per week and up to 40 hours. The experience, regardless of hours worked, will last a lifetime, and may very well serve as a foot in the door to a career in lobbying/government affairs.
The Hannah Internship experience
Interns with Hannah will learn much about the legislative process in South Carolina by observing committee meetings, floor sessions, and more at the State House. Hannah News partners with the Department of Political Science and Honors College at USC to provide course credits for this internship. Work hours for this internship are flexible but all applicants MUST submit their availability and total number of desired hours with a résumé.

Compensation
Between $11 and $13 per hour based on qualifications.
We are looking for candidates with:
- A positive attitude
- Willingness to learn
- Skills in editing, writing, and typing
- Listening skills and attention to detail
- Interest in public policy, government, and/or law
Additional Information
- This internship is paid
- Will take place during the legislative session (January-May 2026)
- 100% in-person - applicants must be able to work in downtown Columbia at the Statehouse
