Medical Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a certified Medical Assistant (CCMA, CMA, RMA, or NCMA) to join our Emergency Room team in Quincy, IL. This is an in-person-only role focused on physician support. The Medical Assistant will work closely with providers to enhance patient care through accurate documentation, care coordination, and assistance with basic procedures in a fast-paced ER setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Documentation support: Accurately enter patient histories, provider assessments, and care plans into the EMR under provider direction and with AI assistance.
  • Care coordination: Assist in arranging discharge instructions, follow-up tests, procedures, and appointments as directed by the provider.
  • Specialist communication: Page specialists and consultants on behalf of providers.
  • Ancillary department liaison: Coordinate with lab, radiology, and other departments to address result delays or clarify orders.
  • Basic procedure assistance: Support providers during basic procedures (e.g., patient positioning, wound care, splinting, etc.) in accordance with hospital policy and state law.
  • Compliance: Adhere to HIPAA, infection control, hospital, and accreditation standards.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour, based on experience.
  • Shift differentials: +$1.00/hour for nights; +$1.00/hour for weekends; (+$2.00/hour for weekend nights)
  • Holidays: 1.5x base pay.
  • Benefits: Health insurance and 401(k) plan.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current certification (or obtained within 30 days of employment) as a CCMA (NHA), CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), or NCMA (NCCT).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Availability for partial nights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts are 10 hours.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 10 lbs.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in emergency, urgent care, or acute care settings preferred.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, Altera, or similar preferred).
