Job Summary:
The Intervention Specialist at Genoa Christian Academy (GCA) serves as a Christ-centered advocate for students with diverse learning needs, providing academic, behavioral, and spiritual support in alignment with the school's mission. This role includes developing individualized learning plans, collaborating with teachers and parents, and fostering a nurturing, biblically grounded learning environment where all students can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Support & Instruction
- Assess students' learning needs through evaluations, observations, and standardized tests.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) alongside the student’s local school district, ensuring accommodations support student success.
- Work with the Intervention Assistance Team to investigate parent and teacher concerns for a student’s needs
- Follow steps to determine if an evaluation for a suspected disability is warranted for a student.
- Participate in the Evaluation Team process alongside local school districts to produce an Evaluation Team Report (ETR) for students with suspected disabilities.
- Provide targeted interventions and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Develop and implement 504 plans with the general education staff, ensuring accommodations support student success.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as necessary.
- Produce quarterly progress reports, input reports into the scholarship program through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and disseminate to parents.
- Encourage students to persevere through academic challenges.
2. Behavioral & Social-Emotional Support
- Implement Christ-centered behavior management strategies to support students’ social-emotional growth.
- Foster a safe, loving environment where students feel valued and supported.
- Work closely with teachers and parents to develop strategies for students struggling with behavioral or emotional challenges.
- Help students develop God-honoring self-discipline and social skills.
3. Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with teachers to create inclusive, supportive classroom environments.
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress, needs, and successes.
- Work alongside school leadership, counselors, and external specialists to provide holistic support.

4. Faith Integration & Spiritual Development
- Model Christ-like character and encourage spiritual growth in students.
- Integrate biblical principles into instruction, counseling, and interventions.
- Pray with and for students, reinforcing the importance of faith in overcoming challenges.
- Encourage students to see their unique abilities as part of God's plan for their lives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- State certification in Special Education or equivalent endorsement.
- Experience with intervention strategies, differentiated instruction, and behavior management.
- Strong understanding of learning disabilities, other health impairments and autism, and the supporting accommodations.
- Ability to integrate biblical truth into teaching and student interactions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A committed Christian with a passion for serving students in a faith-based environment.
