PURPOSE
The Advanced Radiology MRI/CT Tech Manager will help open the first Austin Regional Clinic Advanced Radiology department. This will include being part of the clinical team performing studies, building the team, creating policies and procedures, partnering with leadership and others to ensure all necessary systems are functioning properly and certified, performing and more. Once the department is up and running, this position is responsible for the day-to-day operational oversight of the CT and MRI department, including the supervision of staff performing advanced radiographic exams, such as MRI and CT. Ensures patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of policies and procedures. Assists in overseeing the financial operation of the department. Maintains knowledge of current practice standards with regards to care of patients. This role has growth potential within the organization as the department grows. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Leads and manages all aspects of the CT and MRI departments, including staffing, daily supervision, budgeting, etc. Duties include but are not limited to coaching, motivating, recruiting, evaluating and training staff. This person will also be required to perform studies and fill in for MRI and CT staff when necessary.
- Responsible for the coordination and administration of all CT/MRI radiologic exams; ensures technical quality and timely reporting of results.
- Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies related to patient and employee safety.
- Maintains a professional demeanor with patients, leaders, physicians and staff.
- Develops and implements strategic goals and objectives for the radiology services aligned with organizational priorities.
- Collaborates with physicians and clinical staff to establish effective imaging protocols and workflows. Develops and maintains protocols for efficient, skillful and accurate CT and MRI positioning. Responsible for communicating changes in policies/procedures to staff. Ensures the highest standards of quality and safety in imaging procedures and patient care.
- Oversees the training and development of CT and MRI personnel, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Works closely with employees in the department, thereby setting a good example of appropriate and model behavior.
- Meets with staff regularly.
- Maintains and monitors timekeeping system for staff. Maintains attendance records for staff.
- Maintains performance notes, schedules and documents annual appraisal evaluations for all staff.
- Addresses customer care or service complaints to ensure patient satisfaction.
- Responsible for determining future staffing needs, anticipating the length of time necessary to recruit and train newly hired staff.
- Responsible for determining equipment needs for each of the advance radiology sites.
- Follows and ensures staff follow the appropriate patient protection by following prescribe safety standards and ALARA.
- Ensures all proper documentation of Quality Control testing for equipment.
- Ensures imaging orders are entered correctly.
- Responsible for ensuring that each advance radiology site has necessary supplies/equipment to operate efficiently.
- Ensures radiation badge distribution takes place in a timely manner and all CT new hires are issued a radiation badge.
- Maintains appropriate credentialing information for CT and MRI staff.
- Stays abreast of current trends and developments in the area of professional training and provides training for staff.
- Demonstrates high level of competence and quality technique when assuming responsibility for staffing coverage.
- Responsible for the technical aspects of radiology safety, programming and monitoring in carrying out recommendations of the State, local and Federal government.
- Evaluates accuracy and technical quality of images, demonstrates and explains difficult or new techniques and procedures to staff.
- Attends ongoing organizational leadership training to improve leadership and supervisory skills.
- Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
- Regular and dependable attendance.
- Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on ARC SharePoint.
- Works holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s Degree in Radiology Technology from accredited school.
- Satisfactory completion of formal radiology technology training in an AMA-approved school.
- Five (5) or more years experience working as a technologist with three (3) or more years of experience performing CT and MRI procedures and two (2) or more years in leadership, supervisory or management role. Experience working with all age groups.
- Experience with ACR accreditation and Texas state inspections.
Preferred:
Certificate/License:
- Current certifications with ARRT with advanced certification in CT and MRI and Texas Medical Board required.
- AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card or within 60 days of hire required.
