Position Description
Aug Prep is seeking a mission-driven community champion to lead the Connections Team, which encompasses three departments:
- Family and partnerships: connecting Aug Prep families with support, partnerships and resources to encourage holistic family engagement
- Outreach: entering with the community in order to invite potential partners, donors, families and leaders to connect with Aug Prep
- Marketing and communications: promoting, informing and connecting Aug Prep both externally and internally with staff, students and families
These three teams work together collaboratively, as well as working toward individual goals.
This position requires a Christ-centered, entrepreneurial and strategic leader to drive a focused, outcome-oriented strategy for communications, outreach, and engagement that ensures every initiative contributes meaningfully to Aug Prep’s mission. They will be responsible for defining what success looks like, establishing metrics to measure progress, and helping the team prioritize high-impact work that drives enrollment, strengthens community trust, and supports student success. The right candidate is highly relational, creative, goal-oriented, demonstrates maturity in decision-making, and has a heart to steward a strong and healthy team towards excellence in their craft and strategic direction.
Reporting Structure The Senior Director of Communications and Engagement will report to the Chief People Officer
Responsibilities
The Senior Director of Communications and Engagement will:
- Provide and demonstrate clear vision, leadership, direction, and energy to the entire Aug Prep community, providing quality and depth of experience for the three departments in the Connections Team. This includes defining and continuously refining the vision, strategic priorities, and success metrics for each department in the Connections Team.
- Supervise four Aug Prep leaders and their teams: Family and Partnerships Manager, North Campus Director of Outreach, South Campus Director of Outreach, and Marketing and Communications Manager.
- Demonstrate exceptional team and people management skills; deep commitment to and belief in developing others; ability to influence, inspire trust and motivate others to achieve objectives, both internally and externally.
- Establish and manage a performance dashboard to track progress and outcomes of key initiatives, ensuring alignment with Aug Prep’s strategic goals.
- Ensure all programming, partnerships, and campaigns are evaluated for effectiveness and sustainability. When needed, effectively lead change initiatives while thoughtfully considering the impact of decisions, and facilitating resolutions that prioritize Aug Prep’s mission and our students.
- Engage Aug Prep staff, students, families and other stakeholders to create outreach, engagement, and communication strategies that bring the organization’s mission to life.
- Support the Connections Team and other departments in crafting compelling narratives that drive enrollment, inspire community trust, and attract key partnerships.
- Empower teams to expand Aug Prep’s voice, brand and presence in Milwaukee as well as the organization’s influence on key issues facing the organization and communities we serve.
- Serve as a communications advisor for Aug Prep leadership.
- Work with the Connections Team to prepare and recommend the budget for programs, ensuring that budgets support execution of organizational goals and priorities. Approves key expenditures.
Qualifications
The candidate must be mission-driven, demonstrate the highest integrity, and be able to live the values, beliefs, and culture of Aug Prep.
- Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred
- Specialization in marketing/communications, community relations, nonprofit management or related field preferred
- The ideal candidate will have at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience, including leadership roles in either marketing/communications, community engagement/outreach, or other related field
- Strong leader with vision, high energy and the ability to motivate, lead and inspire the team and community
- Excellent organization, project management and time management skills with attention to detail and follow through
- Participating member of a church
- Lastly and most important, the candidate must demonstrate and possess the highest integrity and be able to live the values and culture of St. Augustine Preparatory Academy
