The International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) is seeking a Program Operations Manager to work in the union’s Data and Contracts Department.

The Data and Contracts Department offers technology solutions to help Teamster local unions use digital resources more efficiently and effectively. Created as part of the Teamsters’ commitment to increasing union membership and securing strong contracts, the Data and Contracts Department serves local affiliates and Teamsters trade divisions/conferences as a key clearinghouse for statistical and contracts information. The department also develops, deploys, and maintains vital digital tools that track data from a range of activities across the union.

Position Description

The role of the Program Operations Manager is to facilitate the operational and managerial processes of the Teamsters’ Data and Contracts Department, while also supporting the department director with communications, budgeting, strategic planning, and human resources responsibilities.

This position’s day-to-day work will likely include some combination of the activities below: 

  • Assists the director of the Data and Contracts Department in setting and communicating departmental priorities, timelines, procedures, and goals.
  • Assists the Data and Contracts Department staff in documenting and enforcing policies, procedures, and important archival work. 
  • Develops, maintains, and communicates key performance indicators and other metrics to track projects, deliverables, and resources across different teams. 
  • Identifies processes for improvement and provides recommendations to the department director. 
  • Manages the Data and Contracts Department’s administrative processes (e.g., timekeeping, travel approvals, and expense reporting) and ensures that staff members are trained to complete those processes.
  • Assists the department director with budgeting, vendor relations, hiring, calendar tracking, and document organization.   
  • Authors and edits memos, emails, supporting documentation, and other communications for review by the department director.

The position is based in Washington, DC. Candidates must be available to work in-person full-time at our DC headquarters. 

Experience and Qualifications

Successful applicants will have the experience and qualifications listed below: 

  • At least five years of professional work experience. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in business, public administration, human resources, finance, or related field is preferred but not required. Job experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Strong organizational and management skills. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience in project management and tracking project metrics. 
  • Experience in owning and improving administrative and operations processes. 
  • Attention to detail while working in a fast-paced, modern office environment. 
  • Competence in handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact.
  • Knowledge of labor unions, data systems, and/or digital services is preferred.
  • Experience working in a national organization preferred. 

Note: Selected candidates will be required to sit for online skills testing in typing speed and accuracy, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

 

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $100,000. The IBT offers a robust benefits package including a 100% employer-paid health and welfare plan, vacation and sick leave, pension, FICA reimbursement, and 401(k) option. 

The Teamsters headquarters building offers all employees access to a subsidized cafeteria, two onsite gyms, and protected bike parking. The building is only a 10-minute walk from Union Station in Washington, DC. Personal vehicle parking is not provided but paid garages are nearby.
