The Engagement Coordinator supports the Water Boards’ efforts to preserve, enhance, and restore the quality of California's water resources and drinking water for the protection of the environment, public health, and all beneficial uses by supporting engagement and outreach, particularly to environmental justice communities and disadvantaged communities. This position supports a variety of public participation efforts related to the Safe and Affordable Funding for Equity and Resilience (SAFER) Program, which will improve climate change adaptation and resiliency of disadvantaged communities by helping public water systems provide an adequate and affordable supply of safe drinking water, and other Water Boards initiatives such as small water system consolidation, sustainable groundwater management, vapor intrusion, emergency drinking water, site clean-up, and more.
Duties:
- Oversee the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of a comprehensive program website redesign.
- Develop and coordinate outreach materials, strategies, and presentations.
- Facilitate community meetings and coordinate language services for written and oral communication.
- Draft project summaries, reports, and correspondence for various Water Board documents and stakeholders.
- Monitor, track, and analyze key program metrics.
- Improve public participation materials based on staff and stakeholder feedback and maintain a public participation database.
- Lead public engagement efforts, assess language needs, and create accessible outreach materials for diverse communities.
- Coordinate with environmental justice organizations, respond to public inquiries, and represent the Water Boards at events and interagency meetings, and more.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
